Here at BBC Cymru Wales, you’ll make things that reflect the passions, needs and interests of Wales and the UK. But you can also make flagship drama content that is loved and talked about by millions around the world.
The BBC’s centre of excellence for drama
Working out of our new state-of-the-art studios at Roath Lock in Cardiff Bay, you could find yourself working on established smash hits. Or, as more of our new drama production moves here, help to create the next big thing.
You can contribute to dramas including Doctor Who and Sherlock. With huge audiences in the UK and abroad, shows like this are sold in international territories by our commercial division BBC Worldwide. They help fund future productions while spreading the BBC brand across the globe.
The premiere of Doctor Who Series 7 was the most watched telecast in the history of BBC America. But we’re also home to national treasures like Casualty and the UK’s longest-running soap, Pobol y Cwm.
Content that speaks to Wales and the whole of the UK
If your skills lie in radio production, BBC Wales is a great place to be. Our two national radio stations are BBC Radio Wales and BBC Radio Cymru, which broadcasts exclusively in Welsh. Last year BBC Radio Cymru broadcast 6,923 hours of Welsh content.
There are great opportunities to help deliver our online services and interactive learning tools. You can get involved with online projects including:
- Websites and red button services for programmes including The Story of Wales, Crimewatch and Doctor Who
- BBC Wales News and the BBC Wales blog
- Learning projects including School Report, Your Paintings and Stargazing Live
- Our main local websites bbc.co.uk/wales and bbc.co.uk/cymru
We also have a unique relationship with S4C, contributing around 570 hours of BBC Wales programmes a year to S4C's overall schedule.
The opportunities don’t end there
As a nation and a vital part of the wider BBC, we have an important role to play and a culture all of our own. With opportunities in everything from production, online and broadcast technology to finance, marketing, HR and more, BBC Cymru Wales is a great place to build an amazing career.
